الملخص:
تهدف الدراسة إلى إلقاء الضوء على الدور السياسي الذي أدته مدينة خرسون في السياسة البيزنطية، حيث أدت دورًا مهمًا في حراسة المداخل الشمالية للممتلکات البيزنطية في شبه جزيرة القرم، وفي الوقت نفسه کانت مرکز مراقبة لا يقدر بثمن لأطراف الشعوب المتبربرة لجنوب روسيا؛ لأنها أتاحت لهم مراقبة ما کان يجرى في السهوب الغربية من تطورات سياسية وتحرکات قبلية، ونجحت في أن تمنع تلک القبائل من مهاجمة القرم والبلقان، ونتيجة لذلک عملت الإمبراطورية على توفير الحماية الکافية لها، وأن تبقى مدينة خرسون تحت سيطرتها مهما کلفها ذلک، وتحصينها سواء من هجمات الشعوب المتبربرة أم من الکوارث الطبيعية.

Abstract:
The study aims to shed light on the political role that Cherson has played in Byzantine politics, as it played an important role in guarding the northern entrances to Byzantine possessions in the Crimea, and at the same time it was the center  An invaluable observation of the parties of the justified peoples of southern Russia, as it allowed them to monitor what was happening in the western steppes of political developments and tribal movements and succeeded in preventing those tribes from attacking the Crimea and the Balkans, and as a result the empire worked to provide  Adequate protection for it and to remain under its control no matter what the cost, and to immunize it, whether from attacks by justified peoples or from natural disasters.
